Writers

If you are a member of any of the Dominican Diaspora writing groups and would like to include your poetry, news item or short story just send an email to writers @ uniquelydominican.com and if suitable we will include it here for everyone to read. We always notify you once your work has been published. If you would like to include a photo send that over too.

We would particularly love to receive writing from complete beginners, closet writers, young people in Dominica and anyone who considers themself to be a “non professional”

We also welcome contributions to our history and tradition section if you would like to include photos and or information so people can find out more about our history let us know.

Contributions Wanted for the Uniquely Dominican Magazine

If you live in Dominica (or you are part of the diaspora) and would like to contribute to this magazine here is what I need :

1. Someone connected to young people or who works at a university/high school and who can get a group of 3 – 4 young people together to add their audio/video. We can all connect online and the videos can show you how to create audio/video.

2. Kweyol Language – someone to add writings in kweyol/English, to offer lessons. If you are willing to do this by audio that would be even better.

3. Someone to report the news! To provide stories of what’s happening in Dominica

4. Young people willing to create audio/ video either of images or just walking round their neighbourhood in Dominica with a camcorder.

Someone to write about Dominican heritage or food would also be great and if you can think of anything that I haven’t included let me know. Find me on the dominican diaspora site.

Take a look at the different categories and see if one of those areas appeals to you. Please note. Some of them you will have to pay to write in and that will be because you run a business in that area but THE MAJORITY ARE FREE to contribute

If you live in Dominica your participation should always be free unless you are a major business/hotel so get in touch with your ideas. Local oils, drinks, gifts, products – all that kind of thing is welcome.

Passion for your topic and a good command of English is essential. I would like to have 3 or 4 people contributing to each area so I do not rely on just one person. Of course you get to talk about yourself and what you do and this will look great on your resume if you are a young person.
